New Jersey lawmakers have introduced a bill (S4074) that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to begin selling recreational cannabis without local municipal approval. The proposed legislation, led by Senate President Nicholas Scutari, seeks to address delays in cannabis licensing and expand access to adult-use marijuana. If passed, the bill could increase dispensary availability, alleviate financial struggles for medical cannabis businesses, and boost New Jersey’s cannabis industry. However, the measure faces pushback from local governments that previously opted out of recreational sales.
